A one-way door is the main tool for getting a possum out of the roof. It is a short tunnel made of galvanised mesh, with a hinged flap at the outer end. The crew fits it over the gap the possum is using. When the possum heads out at night, it pushes through the flap. When it comes back, the flap will not open from the outside, and the gap it used is no longer there.
Where the door goes matters. The crew we book finds the gap that is in use by looking for fresh droppings, rub marks, fur snagged on edges and worn paths through the insulation. Any other gaps around the roof are sealed first, so the door is the only way out. The door stays in place for a few nights. Once the crew is sure the cavity is clear, usually by checking for fresh signs and quiet nights, they take the door off and seal the gap. If you hear noise again while the door is on, call us and we will pass that on to the crew.
